Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about joining, membership, and Chama Cha Ujenzi's ORPP registration process.

Membership & Registration

Any Kenyan citizen aged 18 years and above who is a registered voter can join Chama Cha Ujenzi. We also welcome Kenyans in the diaspora. You must not be a member of another political party at the time of joining — if you are, you must officially resign from that party via the ORPP IPPMS portal first.

There are three ways to register:

  1. Online: Fill in the membership form at ujenzi.ke/#join. You will receive an OTP on your email to verify your identity before submission.
  2. USSD (coming soon): Dial *509# on any Safaricom line to register via mobile phone.
  3. In person: Visit any Ujenzi county office or attend a membership drive event.

You will need your full name, national ID number, date of birth, phone number, email address, occupation, and your county/constituency/ward of residence. No physical documents need to be uploaded — just the information from your national ID card.

Currently there is no membership fee to join Chama Cha Ujenzi. Joining is completely free during the provisional registration period. Any future subscription arrangements will be communicated transparently to all members.

Yes, but you must first resign from your current party. Kenya's Political Parties Act does not allow dual party membership. You can resign formally through the ORPP IPPMS Self-Service Portal. Once your resignation is processed, you are free to join Chama Cha Ujenzi.

Yes! Diaspora Kenyans are warmly welcomed. Use the online membership form and select "Diaspora" as your county/location. Your registration helps the party meet ORPP membership distribution requirements and contributes to the national membership drive.

ORPP Registration & Legal Status

Chama Cha Ujenzi was provisionally registered by the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) in May 2026 following the publication of a provisional registration notice in the Kenya Gazette. We are now in the 99-day window to meet full registration conditions, including achieving at least 1,000 registered members in at least 24 of Kenya's 47 counties.

Provisional registration means the party has satisfied preliminary requirements (founding documents, leadership structure, constitution, logo, bank account, etc.) and the Registrar has published a notice allowing the party to begin formal membership recruitment. The party has 99 days from the provisional registration date to achieve full registration conditions, including the minimum membership spread across counties.

Under the Political Parties Act, a party must have at least 1,000 registered members in at least 24 counties (half of Kenya's 47 counties) to qualify for full registration. Chama Cha Ujenzi is actively running membership drives in all 47 counties to build toward this target and beyond.

You can check your party membership status on the ORPP IPPMS Self-Service Portal using your national ID number. Your registration with Chama Cha Ujenzi should reflect there once it has been processed by ORPP.

The donkey (🫏) is Chama Cha Ujenzi's official party symbol. It represents strength, humility, and resilience — qualities deeply associated with the ordinary Kenyan worker and farmer. The donkey is a beast of burden that serves without complaint, symbolising a party grounded in service to the people, the working class, youth, women, and marginalised communities.
